Pop star of the skiing world

The 1956 Olympic Winter Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo were his to win: at just 21 years old, the Tyrolean Toni Sailer is the first ever participant to win all three competitions - downhill, slalom, and giant slalom - thereby rewriting skiing history. Two years later he wins three world championship titles in Bad Gastein. With three Olympic gold medals, seven world championship titles, and 170 wins, he becomes world famous as the most successful ski athlete of all time and is known afterward as skiing’s first great pop star.

Athlete, film star, role model

At 23 years old, Toni Sailer ends his active sporting career and starts a second career as an actor and singer. He is adored by women around the world because of his charm and good-looks. The “Black Blitz from Kitz” celebrated great international success, especially in the US and Japan, where even the Emperor attended one of his film premieres. He shaped entire generations with his athletic performances, his charisma, and his style throughout his lifetime and after he died on August 24, 2009.
